When is Hartford's St. Patrick's Day Parade?: For 2008, the St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 15. It begins at 11 a.m. and lasts for about two hours.
Where is the Parade Held?: The St. Patrick's Day Parade is held in Downtown Hartford. The parade begins near the State Capitol on Capitol Avenue, takes a left on Main Street, a left on Asylum Street and then a left on Ford Street. It ends by the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch.
Where is the Best Place to Watch the Parade?: The intersection of Asylum and Trumbull Streets is my favorite location for watching the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Keep in mind that rowdy, green-beer-swigging twentysomethings tend to gather in front of bars along the parade route, so you'll want to avoid those areas if you are planning to watch the parade with children. If you are unfamiliar with Hartford, this downtown map will help you to find your way around.
What Will We See?: Hartford's St. Patrick's Day Parade features bagpipers, marching bands, leprechauns, political leaders, floats, clowns, stepdancers and more.
Where Should We Park?: This downtown Hartford parking map will help you locate a parking lot or garage. Plan to arrive in Hartford early, as road closures before the parade will affect access to some of the parking areas closest to the parade route.
Can I See Photos of Past St. Patrick's Day Parades in Hartford?: Yes! Click through my photo gallery of 20 pictures from the 2006 St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Is There a Rain Date?: The parade is usually held rain or shine. However, check here or listen to the radio for cancellation information in the event of inclement weather.
