About.com Guide to Hartford since 1999

Kim Knox Beckius is a freelance writer, photographer and public relations/marketing consultant who has lived in the Greater Hartford area since 1996 and produced About.com's Hartford site since 1999. She is the author of six books including: The Everything Family Guide to New England (2008), Backroads of New England (2004), The Everything Outdoor Wedding Book (2005) and Backroads of New York (2007).

Experience:

In addition to this site, Kim has produced About.com's New England Travel site since 1998. From her home base in central Connecticut, she is frequently called on by the media to discuss travel and events in Connecticut and beyond. She has appeared on WFSB's Better Connecticut, WTNH Channel 8's Good Morning Connecticut Weekend, Fox 61 news, WPLR FM's Chaz and AJ in the Morning and live via satellite from Connecticut on Retirement Living TV's Daily Cafe.

In her "prior lives," Kim has held a variety of professional positions including newspaper correspondent and corporate communications editor for a public utility company.

Education:

Kim graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in communications and history and also holds a Master's degree in education. She is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) and the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association (CAPA).
