A sign that is rather prominently displayed inside The Connecticut Store in Waterbury reads:

Vermont & Maine are
proud of their products.
Connecticut produces
more than
both combined.
Are you feeling proud yet?

It's true--very rarely are products touted as "Made in Connecticut." The mission of The Connecticut Store is to promote and to sell a wide variety of goods manufactured or handcrafted in the Constitution State. In fact, it is the only store in the state that specializes in Connecticut-made products and gifts.

Did you know that Wiffle balls have always been made in Shelton, Connecticut? Or that Pez candy and the clever, collectible, character candy dispensers are made in Orange, Connecticut?

The Connecticut Store, which is housed in the landmark 1890 building that formerly was the Howland-Hughes Store, also markets items created by smaller companies and individual artists who reside within the state. You'll find clothing, clocks, Christmas ornaments, games, puzzles, gourmet food items, housewares, wood carvings, weathervanes and many other unique items made by such Connecticut-based producers as Woodbury Pewter of Woodbury, Connecticut; Liberty Candle of Bolton, Connecticut; Alynn Neckwear of Stamford, Connecticut; and more. The store also carries a full range of products emblazoned with the word, "Connecticut."

Whether you're looking for a special something for a college student or former neighbor who is away and misses home, for a corporate gift that shows off the state's innovation, to assemble a "Made in Connecticut" gift basket or to purchase decorative items with local flare for your own abode, you'll find an intriguing selection of products when you visit this Waterbury shop. There is a bit of a warehouse feel to the high-ceilinged, vast space, and you'll have to explore thoroughly, as items are tucked away in many different nooks and crannies.
